Lithographs, 1853-1854.

Consists of sixteen lithographs depicting plans of the enlargement of the Massachusetts State Capitol Building. Gridley J.F. Bryant was the architect and J.H Bufford was the lithographer. Charles H. Warren, Adam W. Thaxter, Jr. and Samuel K. Hutchinson were listed as building commissioners on the illustrations. Longitudinal and transverse sections, plans for the cellar, and floor plans for the three story building are featured.

The Massachusetts State Capitol, usually called the State House, was designed by Charles Bulfinch was begun in 1795, the cornerstone being laid on July 4 of that year in a special ceremony which included Paul Revere.
